Competing with another does carry with it a sense of drive to push ourselves to be better. It has the the ability to encourage growth and creativity. Nothing tends to move us off our bum bum when we see another who may be doing better than us especially in areas which are very similar.
However, as with everything, competition can turn ugly as well. We need to remember that when we compete, the initial stage of this could be due to an external factor – seeing another move forward and the need to examine whether we need to take steps to change. This is more on your work/business, our experience/knowledge and even at times our lifestyle (or maybe mostly). We need to be aware that for the external need to do better we need to internalised the balance of the desire to be competitive.
We need to do our best to remember that attainment of success is more about your achievement and not by pulling another down – healthy competition. Hence, when you are feeling competitive – find the balance and avoid making it a personal action to attack another. Competition has the tendency of allowing us experience our own abilities, capabilities and potential and yet it can also bring out the worst in us.
Take care everyone and be kind to you and to others.
