Shorts – First Step

The longest journey begins with a single step (Patanjali). I think any journey begins with a single step – be it wanting to achieve something or changing a certain habits or getting a glass of water. We need to remember that a single step needs to have more steps – another and then another – this requires us to be discipline, consistent and persistent.

Starting with that single step does not necessarily mean that what you are walking towards is going to be easy – your desire for what you want to change is going to be the fuel that keeps to walking towards your aim. Many of us give up or become inconsistent but there are many of those that reach their aim.

There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth; not going all the way and not starting (Buddha). In my personal opinion truth is rather subjective, but I feel this phrase does highlight that just taking the first step in reaching our aims or goals is not sufficient, it is ensuring that we go all the way.

The first step at times is not the hardest, it is the follow-up steps that can be the challenge. If there is something you want, remember to keep going.

Take care everyone. Be kind to yourself and to others.
