The area of spirituality and energy currently seems to be something that is being commercialised. Even the art of yoga has been plundered and remoulded to take the form of an exercise like aerobics.
The essences of knowing self – a phrase by Socrates, ‘Know Thyself’ – this process is an internal journey, done in reflection. To get to know you and the only person involved in this is YOU. Hence why we say awaken, to awaken the true essence of self that is sleeping within – it is NOT called WOKE. The concept of soul for Asia/East is very different from the Western/European world.
Unfortunate as it seems, the distinction between this process of knowing self and being self-centered seems very blur and throw in this word called ‘spirituality’ and things get even more blurred. Those who embark on this so called spiritual journey and of knowing self , you got to remember, it’s your journey and no one needs to know if you are an enlightened being or a goddess from Egypt who is reincarnated etc. and it’s definitely not about being woke.
Then there are those who start meditating – like suddenly they are thinking that everyone around them are negative and whatsoever not. Come on, you aren’t perfect to start with and if you think this way then you have just attain some ‘power and knowledge’ maybe cause your base chakra is charged up – it doesn’t make you special.
I remember interacting in a conversation with someone who truly believes she is extremely sensitive and spiritual and because of that she gets mad when others do not listen to her. That is not spirituality, it is called human ego.
For the true seeker, others will not even know who they are, they just flow in this world for their journey is solely about knowing themselves.
Remember, the moment you find yourself needing to tell people you are ‘spiritual or enlightened’ you may need to reflect on whether you have truly understood this notion of spirituality – as someone said – we are spiritual beings having a human experience, so let’s try that – let us try to be kind, courteous and accepting.
Take care everyone. Be kind to yourself and to others.
