The Journey Within

For those who want change – it is said that for change to happen we need to take a journey within ourselves – it could be to change our thoughts and/or emotions that does not bring us a sense of comfort. As much as that journey is within, the irony of it is that more often than not the trigger for this journey within comes from an external situation. Many of these external situations comes from our childhood. Some may say we are inherently good – maybe so- but looking at humans in this physical plane, good is very subjective and could go either way – inherently good or bad or anywhere in between. However our external circumstances play such an important part.

As much as it would be easy to blame our parents we need to, sooner or later, do our best to reprogram our thoughts and emotions. We can’t change the external nor the past – our only option is to change our internal perception as the first step and yes this is very, very hard. It requires awareness, discipline and constant work.

The journey within sometimes can be the hardest thing to do when you want to change something and you are caught in a vicious cycle of an external situation. It take a lot of courage and discomfort. It can be thinking you want to manage your money better or leaving an abusive relationship when you have nothing and nowhere to go.

As much as we say that the true self is within the physical body and the answer to everything comes from within, the examining of self is not the same – this is highly dependent on your circumstances.

The reality is that for every person who we see are successful there will be another 50 who are not, those who are struggling, those who are surviving. We go inwards to change things but the reason we go inwards is to create a balance of thoughts-emotions, this may not automatically change your external situation and sometimes is will not change the external but it will hopefully provide you an insight of seeing a different perspective – with a clearer mind-set or even with a sense of balanced/positive thoughts/emotions.

Within us does lie a sense of wisdom, if we can tap into that it will be a tool to assist us in navigating through the external aspect of our lives. One way of doing this is to be in control and have awareness of your thoughts, emotions and reaction –

Always ask yourself –

Can I do anything to change the external or a person?
For an external situation it would be things like your job, your current background etc. For this you can if you change your perception and manage the things you can control. On a personal level, I would like to have more sessions but I am at a loss of how to do it. I am slowly but surely changing my perception, I just tell myself, I am here ready to receive more sessions and then I let it be. Then, I do my best to keep myself busy. Having this site is one way of keeping myself busy.

As for a person – No, we cannot change a person.

Can I decide how I want to react?

Absolutely. This takes practice and in time you will be in control of how you react and when you master that you will find yourself not immediately reacting to a situation but rather knowing you are in control of how you react.

When we are the master of our thoughts and our emotions, you have understood this journey within and there will be this understanding that it really does not matter what is going on externally because internally we are in control.

Take care everyone, be kind to yourself and to others.
