What Am I Actually Improving?

Some of us try and want to employ certain changes in our lives. With the age of social media we see many promoting concepts of -waking up early, the minimalism lifestyle, reading more books, eating healthy etc. There are various tools out there to assist us with this.

However, it is important to know what you want to improve rather than jumping on the band-wagon of things. I have seen videos of people saying they wake up at 5am and share their morning routine. I am of course watching this at 1.30am whilst lying on my bed because sleep has not arrived. Then there are those who read a book a week. Now, if we are not one of those who fall into the various categories of people out there who are ‘productive’, we may tend to feel there is something wrong with us.

For most of us it is getting up, getting ready for work (getting the kids ready), rushing to work, working or managing the home, going back home, etc. etc. Most of us have a daily routine, we need this routine as it may be connected to our income, -our survival. I don’t think waking up early or reading a book every week or whatever the heaven or hell is out there is for everyone. We need to focus on our specific needs and ask the question – ‘What aspect of myself am I wanting to change?’

It’s ok to sleep in if body is tired, its ok that you like to draw rather than read and its ok just to be as you are as long as you are ok with it. The moment there is a part of you that feels something needs to be improved that get off your bum bum and get it done, don’t whine.

Never forget that the improvement of self is for yourself, if you want to get healthy – GO get healthy, if you want more money – EXPLORE your options and start by managing your finances. TAKE ACTION and NO, meditating is not going to suddenly make your world into some magical place. Meditation is the KEY to awareness and the PRACTICE that will assist you in your journey.

The ability to improve yourself or your life is not going to drop from the sky nor is it going to come just because you attended a seminar, it is going to come only through your EFFORT. Some people have it easier, deal with it. The world is not going to be fair, you DO your best to make it fair for you.

In your journey to improve, may you find what you truly want to improve then go get it done with DISCIPLINE and CONSISTENCY.
